Flaky, all-butter golden pastry filled with a delicately spiced sweet filling, baked until crisp and aromatic.
Thread the walnut halves onto 20cm lengths of strong cotton string.
Whisk the grape molasses, flour, cornflour, and water in a wide pan until smooth.
Stir over medium heat for 15-20 minutes until the paste is very thick and glossy.
Dip each walnut string into the paste, turning until fully coated.
Hang the coated strings in a dry, airy place for 3-5 days until firm.
Cut into slices with a sharp knife and store between layers of parchment.
