Flaky, all-butter golden pastry filled with a delicately spiced sweet filling, baked until crisp and aromatic.
Knead the flour, yeast, sugar, oil, and warm water into a soft dough and let it rise, covered, for 1 hour.
Mash the dates with the butter and cinnamon into a smooth paste over low heat.
Divide the dough into balls, roll each thin, and place a spoonful of date paste in the centre, leaving the top open in shallow cups.
Let the filled pastries rest for 15 minutes.
Bake at 190C for 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden.
Brush with melted butter and serve warm or at room temperature.
