Flaky, all-butter golden pastry filled with a delicately spiced sweet filling, baked until crisp and aromatic.
Rub the butter into the flour with the sugar, mahlab, and anise; add the yeast in the warm milk and knead into a soft dough; rest 1 hour.
Divide the dough and roll each piece into a rope, joining the ends into rings.
Let the rings rest on trays for 20 minutes.
Brush with honey diluted in a spoon of water and dip the tops in sesame seeds.
Bake at 180C for 15-18 minutes until golden.
Cool on a rack until crisp before serving.
