Chef's Menu Description

An indulgent artisan dessert, beautifully crafted with premium ingredients and presented with exquisite garnishes for a memorable finale.

Ingredients

  • • 1 cup rice flour
  • • 1 cup water
  • • 1 tbsp ghee
  • • 1 cup fresh coconut, grated
  • • 3/4 cup jaggery, grated
  • • 1/2 tsp green cardamom powder
  • • 1/2 tsp poppy seeds

Preparation Steps

1
Phase 1

Cook the coconut and jaggery together on medium heat until the jaggery melts and the mixture thickens and turns dry; stir in the cardamom powder and cool.

2
Phase 2

Boil the water with the ghee and a pinch of salt, add the rice flour, mix well, take off the heat, and knead into a smooth dough while warm.

3
Phase 3

While still warm, pinch balls of dough, shape them into small cups, fill with the coconut-jaggery mixture, and pleat the edges together to seal into modak.

4
Phase 4

Arrange the modak on a greased steamer plate and steam for 12-15 minutes until the surface looks glossy.

5
Phase 5

Serve warm drizzled with a little ghee.
