Ingredients

  • • 1/2 onion (diced)
  • • 2 cloves garlic (chopped)
  • • 1 tin chopped tomatoes
  • • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • • 1/2 lemon (juice only)
  • • 1 tbsp Schwartz Perfect Shake BBQ Classic Seasoning
  • • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (or veggie equivalent)
  • • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • • 1 tbsp Franks Buffalo Wings Pepper Sauce
  • • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • • 1 tsp granulated sweetener
  • • low calorie cooking spray

Preparation Steps

1
Phase 1

Spray a frying pan with low calorie cooking spray and cook the onions and garlic until the onions are soft.

2
Phase 2

Add the tomato puree and tinned tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes on high, stirring frequently.

3
Phase 3

Add in the rest of the ingredients, lower the heat and simmer for 20 minutes, the sauce should thicken nicely.

4
Phase 4

If the sauce seems a bit too thick just add a tiny bit of water and stir well.

5
Phase 5

You can use this sauce as it is or if you prefer a smoother BBQ sauce just blitz it in a food processor until you get the desired consistency.

6
Phase 6

You can make this in advance, just put it in a sterilised airtight container and store in the fridge until ready to use.
